The Ballarat Beat Rockabilly Festival is the latest and greatest instalment from Rockabilly King, Arthur Matsakos. Arthur has brought you the exponentially growing Camperdown Cruise Rockabilly Festival over the past five years, and promises that the annual Ballarat Beat will bring all of that and more. “There’s a lot of public interest for events in central Victoria, and I really want to create a world-class spectacle, one that the City of Ballarat can be proud of”.
The inaugural Ballarat Beat is set to take over the streets of Ballarat with everything Rockabilly for three days, from the 15th to 17th of February 2013. This huge festival will showcase an impressive number of standout international music acts including The Desperados (USA) and Omar Romero (USA), as well as amazing local artists such as The ReChords (VIC) to keep you rocking throughout the night. Or if the musical entertainment isn’t enough for you, the promise of “The grandest Rockabilly Burlesque show the world has ever seen” is sure to get your attention. And of course, what would a rockabilly weekend be without classic cars and hot rods lining the streets, illustration artists from every corner of the globe as well as from our own backyard, and enough trade stalls containing a huge range of specialty clothing, music, magazines and old world trinkets to fuel that 50’s vibe. Ballarat Beat will a non-stop weekend with something for even the most decerning retro enthusiest including fashion parades, high tea at Craig’s Hotel, glamour central for any gals wanting that Rockabilly hair and makeup, and even rock’n’roll dance lessons.
With tens of thousands of people expected to line the streets when the City of Ballarat is transformed into Rockabilly Heaven, make sure you get in early to book your accommodation and tickets.
